Project Description

Dadaab is one of the World's largest refugee camp. It is located in Kenya's North Eastern province and hosts refugees from Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Terra Nuova is an Italian-based NGO currently running a pilot project in Dadaab that seeks to train members of both the host and refugee communities in product design and development. The aim is to teach the trainees various crafts that make use of locally available materials such that the skills may be sustainable. With this in mind, the project hence deals with bonecraft, metal beating, sandal making and textile.
